Ok, So It's Not Really New Years...

    (reno, irvine, zidane, and robby are in the ramble room, setting up for what looks like a party when lark enters with jackie and rufus)

Lark: *blinks* "Uh... Did I miss something?"

Jackie: "Looks like a party."

Robby: "You got it!"

Reno: "This is our New Years Party!!"

Irvine: "It's gonna rock!"

Rufus: "...Do you morons realize that New Years *passed*?"

Zidane: "Well since Sephiroth ruined our *real* New Years, we're having the party now."

Lark: "Okay... Makes sense...  I guess."

Jackie: *shrugs* "I'm always up for a party."

Rufus: "And just who paid for this?"

Reno: *tosses rufus his credit card* "Thanks buddy."

Rufus: "Grrrr..."

Jackie: "So just when is this party?"

Robby: "Tonight."

Jackie: "Thanks for announcing it to everyone!!" *turns to lark* "Aren't they coming tonight?"

Lark: "Yup. Well, I guess it's for the better that it is tonight then."

Irvine: "Who's 'they'?"

Jackie: "Our friends Stryker and Twitch are coming."

Reno: "What kind of names are those."

Lark: "Hey, shut up! They're cool. You guys should like them. Besides, they're just visiting."

Rufus: "Hey, Reno, if you paid for this party with my credit card, can I at least make my punch?"

Everyone: "NO!!"

Rufus: *frowns* "Why not?"

Robby: "I honestly don't think I could stand to drink any of that stuff after what happened last time."

Rufus: "That wasn't my fault!"

Reno: "Sorry, Rufus, looks like the punch is dead for good."

Rufus: *hangs head* "It just isn't fair."

Lark: "So... If you're having a party tonight.... Can Sephiroth come?"

Guys: *exchange looks silently*

Lark: "Well??"

Reno: "....I guess so." *frowns*

Lark: "Great! I'll go tell him!" *turns to jackie and says quietly* "He hasn't left his room since this all happened." *she leaves*

Irvine: "Aw, man, I don't want him here." *frowns* "We're only letting him because we want to make Lark happy."

Jackie: "You guys still hate his guts, huh?"

Zidane: "Well we're still kinda....freaked out, ya know? You don't feel the same cause he didn't kill you."

Reno: "It hurt a hell of a lot."

Jackie: "So... What does it feel like to be dead?"

Guys: "............."

Robby: "Jackie!"

Jackie: *holds up hands in defense* "Sorry! Forget I said anything!"


(so lark goes to sephy's room and knocks on the door)

Sephiroth's voice: *softly* "Come in."

(lark goes in and goes over to sephiroth, who's lying with his back towards her on his bed)

Lark: "Hey there! How are ya today?"

Sephiroth: *mumbles* "Miserable."

Lark: *frowns and sits besides him* "Maybe if you left the room you'd be happier!"

Sephiroth: "................"

Lark: *sighs* "Sephy.... You know, Reno and a few of the other guys are throwing a belated-New Years party tonight. I asked if you could come, and they said yes. ...So come on. What do ya say?"

Sephiroth: "...They don't really want me too. I bet they didn't even give you a concrete answer. They probably said 'I guess so' or something--just to make you happy."

Lark: "No... That's not what happened."

Sephiroth: *sits up and looks at her* "Don't lie to me, Lark." *looks away again* "I don't want to go where I'm not wanted."

Lark: "I want you there. Vincent wants you there."

Sephiroth: "Two people is hardly enough. I'd rather stay here, thank you."

Lark: *frowns* "I'm only trying to get things back to normal."

Sephiroth: *snaps* "Well stop trying. Things are *never* going to be back to normal."

Lark: *fights back tears and stands* "Fine, if you want to be a big crank, then go ahead. I don't even know why I waste my time on you sometimes!" *stomps out*

Sephiroth: *sighs sadly and lays down again*


(later...lark is relaxing on the couch in the ramble while reno, irvine, robby, zidane and rufus put the finishing touches on their party)

Reno: "And now, for the music." *puts on 'addicted to love*

Robby: "Awesome! 80's music rocks!"

Reno: "Right on!" *they high five*

Lark: *laughs quietly and shakes her head*

Rufus: "You *sure* you don't want my punch?"

Guys: "YES!"

Rufus: "Oh, man." *hangs head*

Jackie's voice: "LARK! THEY'RE HERE!"

Lark: *jumps up* "Ooh! Hooray!!"

(she goes over and opens the ramble room door, and in with jackie are two guys)

Lark: "Hey guys, welcome to the ramble room. Twitch and Stryker, meet Irvine, Reno, Zidane, Robby and Rufus. You guys, this is Twitch and Stryker."

Guys: *frown* "Hi."

Twitch and Stryker: "Hey."

Stryker: *smiles at jackie* "Hey, Jackie."

Jackie: "Hi yourself."

Twitch: "Hey, Larky!" *grins and hugs her*

Lark: *hugs him* "Hey! I'm so glad you came!"

Stryker: "What's going on here?"

Robby: "Belated New Years Eve party."

Reno: "Yeah, since Sephiroth made us miss the real one."

Lark: "Yeah, you'll meet everyone else later when they get---"

Michelle: *enters* "TWITCH! STRYKER!" *glomps them both* (authors note: heh heh)

Twitch and Stryker: "Hey, Mish."

Michelle: "I didn't know you guys were coming!"

Lark: "Surprise, surprise."

(shell enters with rude trailing behind her with a notepad)

Shell: "You getting down all these New Years gifts I want, Rude?"

Rude: "Yes, Shell."

Shell: "Even the color and size when appropriate?"

Rude: "Yes, Shell."

Lark: "Hey, Shell, meet Twitch and Stryker."

Shell: "Hey."

Twitch: "You're just as pretty in person."

Shell: *flips hair over her shoulder* "I know."

Rude: "Um, Shell?"

Shell: "What is it, Rude?"

Rude: "Um...you wanted the last item in turquoise, right?"

Shell: "No!! I said Periwinkle you idiot! Get it right!"

Rude: "Yes, Shell."

Twitch and Stryker: *blink*

Stryker: "So, Jackie, you, uh...still dating Seifer?"

Jackie: "Yeah."

Stryker: "Exclusively?"

Jackie: "Nah. He's hot but he's no Duo."

Stryker: "What?"

Jackie: "Nothing. Now let's talk about you..." *leads him away*

Lark: "Twitch, you should have brought some of the Omega characters with you!"

Twitch: "That would have probably ended in death."

Lark: "For who?"

Twitch: "Kalvin. By Alicia."

Lark: *laughs* "Poor Kalvin. Yeah, maybe it's better this way." *turns to michelle* "Michelle, can you go find everyone else and tell them to come to the party?"

Michelle: "Sure!!!" *goes to leave*

Reno: *stops her* "Think you wanna party with me tonight?"

Michelle: "Hell no!" *pushes him outta the way*

Reno: *hangs his head* "Oh, man..."

Rufus: *laughs at him* "Ha Ha loser!"

Reno: *glares at him* "You're still mad about the punch, aren't you."

Rufus: "Damn straight!"

Zidane: "So did you guys already celebrate New Years?"

Twitch: "Yeah."

Zidane: "Well we were dead or waiting to die, so we didn't get a chance."

Lark: "Eh heh..." *sweat drops* "Zidane... Why don't you... Do something." *leads twitch away*

Zidane: *blinks* "What?"

(michelle returns followed by every other member of the ramble room)

Reno: "Whoo hoo! Now our party can start!!" *puts on 'tainted love'*

Robby: "Allright! More 80's!"

(vincent glances around the room several times before he sees lark and goes over)

Vincent: "Hello, Lark."

Lark: "Oh, hi, Vincent. Vincent, this is my friend Twitch."

Twitch: "Hey."

Vincent: *nods* "Hello." *turns to lark* "Lark, I do not see Sephiroth. Was he invited?"

Lark: *sighs* "Yes. He just refused to come."

Vincent: "Ah, I see. Do you think then I could perhaps go and keep him company?"

Lark: "Oh, I think he'd appreciate that Vincent. He might not show it, but he does."

Vincent: *nods* "I know. Thank you. And happy New Year."

(vincent turns to leave and he's stopped to reeve and tseng)

Tseng: "Vincent."

Vincent: "Yes?"

Tseng: "You're going to keep Sephiroth company?"

Vincent: "I am."

Reeve: *clears his throat* "Mind if we join you."

Vincent: "No of course not. ...Is there some reason why?"

(tseng and reeve exchange looks)

Vincent: *sigh* "Very well. Let's go."

(and so vincent, reeve and tseng leave. lark and twitch go to sit on the couch)

Irvine: "Hey, Lark-----"

Lark: "No."

Irvine: "But you didn't even---"

Lark: "No."

Irvine: *frowns* "She knows me too well."

Michelle: "Hey, jackass, I brought some sparkling apple cider since I gave up drinking." *shoves it in reno's hands* "Serve it to me." *stomps off*

Reno: *eyes narrow* "Sure, Michelle." *reaches for a bottle of real champagne*

Rufus: *jaw hits the floor* "Reno! That's really mean!"

Reno: "She deserves it." *pours a glass and goes over to her* "Here you are."

Michelle: *snatches it* "Thanks, jerk." *drinks it down and then smiles* "Hey, this is good stuff! Tastes just like the real thing!" *glares at reno* "Get me more!"

Reno: "Sure thing..."

Shell: *loudly* "You guys, I figured out my New Years resolution!"

Rude: "Uh-oh."

Shell: "I decided that I'm going to try and be nicer to Rude this year."

Lark: "Good luck with that one."

Shell: "Shut up, skank!"

Rude: "I like that one, Shell."

Shell: "I didn't ask for your opinion, did I?" *pause* "Oops." *sweat drops* "Sorry."

Zell: "Yo, has anyone seen Seifer?"

Rinoa: "And where's Squall?"

Zell: "Maybe Squall killed him, and is hiding the body right now."

Rinoa: "Zell!"

(meanwhile, just outside the ramble room, squall and seifer are huddled around some women's magazine. squall is pointing at something in it)

Squall: "See, Seifer, I told you I wasn't lying. It says right here a good way to jump start your love life is by dressing up as someone else and see if you still hit on one another."

Seifer: "All right, so you were right for once, Leonhart." *thoughtfully* "What should I dress up as?"

Squall: "Who cares. Just be sure she doesn't recognize you."

Seifer: "Gotcha." *runs off*

Squall: "Whatever."

(squall goes into the party)

Rinoa: "There you are, Squall! Have you seen Seifer?"

Squall: "Um... No."

Zell: "Good! Cause Seifer's a jerk."


(meanwhile, back to seph, he's still laying down when there's  a knock at the door)

Sephiroth: "Go *away*, Lark."

Vincent's voice: "It's me, angel!"

Sephiroth: *sits up* "Oh. Come in."

(vincent, tseng and reeve come in)

Sephiroth: "What is this, the gay pride parade?" *chuckles*

Vincent: "*Angel*."

Sephiroth: "Sorry, I just couldn't resist." *looks at reeve and tseng* "I'm...um...sorry for what I did. And especially for what I said." *looks at tseng* "Especially to you."

Tseng: "Don't worry about it. I know it wasn't you."

Reeve: "What did he say to you?"

Tseng: "Forget it."

Sephiroth: "...I guess your coming here means you forgive me, and I'm really thankful for it, but I don't think the others will ever..."

Vincent: "Don't worry, Angel, they will." *sits next to him* "In the meantime, we will keep you company."

Sephiroth: "You don't have to."

Reeve: "We want to."

Sephiroth: *blinks* "Why?"

Vincent: "Because I love you, my Angel."

Sephiroth: "Not *you*! I know why *you* wanna keep me company!" *looks at reeve and tseng*

Tseng and Reeve: *shrug*

Sephiroth: "All right." *sigh* "Well let's play a game." *reaches under the bed and pulls out a game of checkers* "We'll play in teams. I get the brainy one." *pulls reeve over*

Vincent: "Very well, and we will take the red pieces."

Sephiroth: "Of course you will. I always get black!" *starts setting up*


(back to the other party...)

Michelle: *on her 5th glass of 'cider'* "This stuff is *great*! I'm gonna recomend this to everyone!"

Reno: *rubs his hands together evilly*

Rufus: "Oh you are terrible."

Reno: "Shut up, Rufus."

Rufus: "Don't tell me to shut up! I'm your boss!"

(lark and twitch are in deep conversation. something about ff5. meanwhile...)

Shell: "I'm so pretty."

Rude: "Uh-huh."

Shell: *glares at rude* "What are you, stupid, Rude? What's uh-huh supposed to mean?! Where's my enthusiastic reply?!?"

Rude: "Uh, Shell, you're...um...not being nice."

Shell: *goes to speak but shuts her mouth* "Uh...whoops. Sorry. Eh heh." *sweat drops*

Michelle: *getting a little tipsy* "Gimme another, Reno!"

Reno: "Sure thing!"

TJ: "Michelle, are you *sure* that's sparkling apple cider?"

Michelle: "Course it is!"

(no one really notices as seifer comes into the room, wearing leather pants, a halfway unbuttoned white shirt and sunglasses)

Suzie: "Hey, did someone order a stripper?"

Seifer: *sweat drops* "Uh, I'm not--"

Suzie: "Damn! You're hot!"

Seifer: *grins* "I'm your stripper!"

Suzie: "Hey, Amy, did you order a stripper?"

Amy: *thinks* "Um, not that I can remember."

Suzie: "Did Michelle?"

(they look at michelle, who's stumbling around a bit)

Amy: "Um, I don't think she would remember anyway."

Suzie: "Did Shell?"

Shell: *from across the room* "You are an *idiot*, Rude! A big, bald, idiot!" *pause* "Oops! I did it again. Eh heh..."

Amy: "Probably not."

Suzie: "Did Jackie?"

(they look over to where jackie and stryker are flirting)

Amy: "I don't know."

Suzie: "Must have been Lark then."

(look over to where lark has started making out with twitch)

Amy: "Um, well, I don't wanna disturb her right now."

Suzie: *turns to seifer* "All right, whatever. We're watching. Strip."

Seifer: *glaring at jackie* "Uh... Maybe you want to get the other girls to watch first."

Suzie: "Nah, they're busy. Now come on!"

Laguna: *from across the room* "Hey hey! Suzie, where'd you go?"

Suzie: "I'll be right back!"

Kiros: "Ward says Laguna smells!"

Laguna: *smells himself* "I do not!"

Suzie: "Now strip!"

Seifer: *sighs* "Fine..."


(meanwhile, back to seph and the others...)

Sephiroth: "Ha ha! King me!"

(tseng kings sephiroth's piece, and reeve studies the board. *none* of sephiroth's pieces has been jumped, and there's only one red piece left)

Vincent: "Hmm...." *moves his piece right in front of seph's piece* "I believe I will be safe there, right, Tseng?"

Tseng: "Oh yes. Very safe."

Sephiroth: *jumps the piece* "Ah ha! I win!!! I win, I win, I win!"

Reeve: "Actually, *we* won."

Sephiroth: *frowns* "Oh yeah. I forgot about you."

Reeve: "Thanks."

Sephiroth: *looks at the board* "Hey, we really won by a lot..." *looks at vincent suspiciously*

Vincent: "I am not too good at checkers."

Tseng: "Me neither. In fact, I barely know the rules."

Sephiroth: *suspiciously* "Hmmm...." *shrugs* "All right, let's play Candyland now."

Reeve: "You have Candyland?"

Sephiroth: *taking the game out* "Yeah. Gotta a problem with that?"

Reeve: "No, I...uh...love, Candyland."

Sephiroth: "Great!" *starts setting up*


(back to the other party...michelle has had a little too much to drink, lark and twitch are still going at it on the couch, and jackie and stryker have started up in the corner...)

Michelle: *stumbles over to rinoa and zell and squall* "Hey, you guys."

Rinoa: "Um, hi, Michelle. I thought you gave up drinking."

Michelle: *arm around rinoa* "You know, Rinoa, I really don't like you."

Rinoa: *frowns* "Yeah. Thanks for clearing that up."

Michelle: "And I hate you Zell."

Zell: *flips out* "Hey! That wasn't nice!"

Michelle: "And Squall....... Squall....... Whatever."

Squall: "I got off easy."

(meanwhile, seifer is stripping *very* slowly, and he notices jackie and stryker)

Seifer: *to himself* "I've gotta stop that..." *takes off his shirt and throws it at them*

Jackie: *pulls away* "Hey! Where did this come from?"

(seifer to turns his back to her)

Jackie: "Whatever." *goes back to strkyer*

Shell: "So, Rude, how many of those items are you going to buy me?"

Rude: "................."

Shell: *snaps* "Rude! You didn't answer me!! Answer me right now!"

Rude: *hangs head* "Um... Shell... Your resolution..."

Shell: *pause* "Oh yeah. Whoops."

Lark: *breaks away from twitch* "You don't feel weird making out in front of like everyone, do you?"

Twitch: "No, not at all. You?"

Lark: "Nah, I'm kinda used to having an audience." *they go back at it*

Michelle: *stumbles over to laugna* "You know, Laguna, I really think you're annoying and stupid."

Laguna: "Hey hey!"

Kiros: "Hey! I think the same thing!"

Laguna: "Kiros?!"

Kiros: *clears throat* "Uh... Ward said that."

Ward: ".........!" *hits kiros*

Michelle: *glass in the air* "Reno, gimme some more of the good stuff!"

Reno: "Coming right up." *mumbles* "Heh heh heh."

Irvine: *unhappy sigh* "I have a feeling I'm not gonna get lucky tonight."

Rufus: *leaning on the counter unhappily* "Who cares about you--I couldn't make my award winning punch!"

Irvine: *gives him a look* "Now it's award winning?"

Rufus: *slowly* "Uh....yeah...of course it is. It won...uh...the..um..Rufus J. Shinra Award for uh...good...punch. Yeah."

Irvine: "Yeah, and for me to have believed that obvious lie, I would have had to have won the Zell award of idiocy."

Zell: "I heard my name!"

Seifer: *glaring at jackie and stryker* "Grrr..."

Suzie: "You stopped stripping! Come on, someone around here isn't paying you for nothing!"

Seifer: "...I really have to take my pants off?"

Amy: "Don't strippers usually do that."

Seifer: "Um... I guess."

Suzie: "So get to it!"


(meanwhile, back at the other party...)

Sephiroth: *drawing a card* "Whoo hoo! Queen Frostine! I am the Candyland master!" *happily moves his piece*

Tseng: *draws card* "Ooh, Princess Lolly." *moves his piece*

Sephiroth: *chuckles* "I didn't know you were in the game, Tseng." *laughs*

Tseng: *glares at him*

Vincent: *draws his card* "Oh dear. It seems I will be stuck on yellow again." *moves his piece*

Reeve: *draws card* "Oh no! That's the 3rd time this game I've drawn the stupid Plumpy card!" *moves his piece and pouts*

Sephiroth: "Sorry, Reeve, we can't all be as cool as me!" *draws a card and frowns at it* "...Go to finish? ...There's no card like this in the game! It would be too easy!"

Vincent: "Obviously there is one, angel, if you drew it."

Sephiroth: "...But I've played this game a million times, and this card never came up once!" *turns the card over* "And this was made using an index card!"

Vincent: *snatches it and starts putting the game away* "You win again, Angel. You *won*. Don't you wish to celebrate."

Sephiroth: "Yeah... I guess." *looks at vincent* "Vincent... Are you letting me win?"

Vincent: "No, angel. I would never do that." *sweat drops*

Tseng: "Um, why don't we play tic-tac-toe?"

Sephiroth: "I get the X's!!"


(back to the other party...)

Michelle: *only getting drunker* "You know, Irvine, I really think you're hot."

Irvine: "Who doesn't think so?"

Rufus: "Um, me?"

Irvine: "Well I would hope not you."

Michelle: "I think you're hot too, Rufus."

Rufus: *flips hair back*

Michelle: "Know who else I think is hot?"

Rufus and Irvine: "Who?"

Michelle: "Kuja." *polishes off her glass*

Zidane: *walking by, shudders* "Ugh! I heard that!"

Shell: "Rude, are you falling asleep on me?"

Rude: "Um, no, Shell."

Shell: "Yes you are! How dare you! I--"

Rude: "Um, your resolution, Shell."

Shell: *blinks* "Oh right. That."

Rufus: *glares at lark and twitch* "Hmmm..." *grabs a small piece of ice, and throws it at lark's back*

Lark: *pulls away* "Ow!"

Twitch: "What's wrong? I didn't..."

Lark: "No, no, no." *glares over at where rufus is whistling innocently* "I'll be right back." *stomps over* "Oh, Rufus..."

Rufus: *innocent smile* "Oh, Lark! I didn't see you at the party!"

Lark: *leans against the counter* "Oh really? Is that so? ...I saw you throw that ice at me."

Rufus: *frowns* "...How the hell..."

Lark: "You better have a darn good reason for making me come over here."

Rufus: "Uh... Sure I did... I just...uh...forgot it. But Irvine remembers, don't you, Irvine?"

Irvine: "Huh what now?"

Rufus: *glares at him*

Irvine: "Uh... right, *Rufus*." *glares at rufus* "Uh..." *smiles pleasantly at lark* "We just thought you should...uh...go check on 'Roth, and make sure he doesn't wanna come."

Lark: "Even though I know you made that up right now, it's still a good idea. I'll be right back. You guys keep Twitch company while I'm gone, okay?"

Rufus and Irvine: *fake smiles* "Sure."

(lark leaves and rufus and irvine go over to twitch)

Irvine: "Hi, there. You must be Twitch. I'm Irvine."

Rufus: "And I am Rufus J. Shinra, President of Shinra Inc."

Twitch: "Hey." *looks around* "Where's Lark?"

Irvine: "She had to take care of something."

Rufus: "Before she comes back, there are some things you should know about her..."

(they sit next to him. meanwhile...)

Seifer: *is being very slow with taking his pants off* "Um, I still don't think I was paid to do this."

Suzie: "You're a terrible stripper."

Amy: "Um, Mr. Stripper? You forgot to take off your shoes."

Seifer: "Oh right. Thanks." *takes one off and throws it at the wall right next to jackie* "Oops. Slipped."

Jackie: *breaks away* "What the heck was that?!"

Seifer: "Heh heh heh."

Sephiroth: *happily drawing an x* "Look! I win again! 5 times in a row, tic-tac-toe!" *grins* "I so rock."

Vincent: "You're very good at this game, my angel."

Sephiroth: "It also helped that I remembered what symbol I was."

Vincent: "Those circles and x's all look the same to me sometimes."

Tseng: "Wow, Sephiroth, you are on a winning streak today."

Reeve: "You must feel really good about yourself."

Sephiroth: "I--" *stops and frowns* "Wait a minute..." *looks at vincent* "Vincent... You're not letting me win, are you?"

Vincent: "Oh no. Of course not, my angel. I would never do that."

Sephiroth: "Either you're letting me win, or you and Zell swapped brains. And I don't think that last one is possible."

Vincent: "......um...... You are just...very good at these games."

Sephiroth: "You're letting me win! You let me win at checkers, you lost on purpose at tic-tac-toe, and you had Tseng write that 'go to finish card'." *looks at tseng* "I'd know that girly cursive handwriting anywhere."

Tseng: *blushes*

Reeve: "I think it's nice."

Sephiroth: "Admit it, Vincent. Admit you were letting me win all this time."

Vincent: *hangs head* "Well... I know how you hate to lose, Sephiroth."

Sephiroth: "Grrr.... Well I hate to be treated as a baby!" *crosses arms and pouts*

(there's a knock at the door)

Sephiroth: "Come in!" *still pouting*

Lark: *pokes her head in* "Hey there guys. Mind if I come in."

Sephiroth: "Yes."

Vincent: "You may come in, Lark."

Sephiroth: "Vincent!"

Lark: *comes in* "I didn't interrupt anything, did I?"

Sephiroth: "I don't know what's in your sick, twisted, yaoi perverted brain, woman, but we were playing tic-tac-toe."

Lark: "Geez! I just asked a simple question!"

Sephiroth: "If you're not here for a reason, you can go."

Lark: *frowns* "Actually, I am here for a reason. Rufus and Irvine said I should go check on you. They *do* care about you, Sephiroth. See?"

Sephiroth: "You're lying."

Lark: "I am not." *crosses arms* "Will you come or not?"

Sephiroth: *looks away, still pouting* "Maybe later."

Lark: "Fine." *annoyed sigh* "Bye you guys."

Guys: "Bye, Lark."

Sephiroth: "Hmph."

Vincent: "Angel, maybe you might consider going."

Sephiroth: "And maybe I might consider bashing my own head in with a baseball bat."

Vincent: "Angel!"

Sephiroth: "Look, let's just play something that can't have a winner. How about...Colorforms?" *pulls some out*

Reeve: "They stopped making those a long time ago."

Sephiroth: "And just how would you know that, Reeve?"

Reeve: *blushes* "I....uh...nevermind."


(back to the other party...)

Irvine: *pushes rufus* "I told you not to use the pirate thing!"

Twitch: *crosses arms* "You made that all up, didn't you?"

Rufus: "...most of it."

Irvine: "The part about the whip is true."

Twitch: "Oh really..."

(lark returns)

Lark: "Hey you guys." *smiles at twitch* "Did they entertain you while I was gone?"

Twitch: "I guess you could say that?"

Lark: *glares at them* "Oh no. Not the pirate thing again."

Irvine: *hits rufus* "You have to think of something else!"

Rufus: "But that's a classic!"

(rufus and irvine leave and lark sits again)

Twitch: "Where did you go?"

Lark: *sigh* "To try and convince Sephiroth to come. He's so stubborn."

Lark: *coy grin* "So...where were we?"

(meanwhile...michelle is totally drunk and is trying to talk to jackie, even though she's...um...busy)

Jackie: *still kissing stryker, so her words are *really* mangled* "Shut up, Michelle!"

(suddenly a shoe flies past michelle's head)

Sephiroth: *rubs his head* "Yeah, I'm fine." *sigh* "You know what, maybe we should go to that party."

Tseng: "Are you sure."

Sephiroth: "Yes. I mean, they might not like me, but I'm sick of being treated like a little kid cause a few people feel bad for me."

Vincent: "We were just trying to make you feel better, my angel."

Sephiroth: "I know, Vincent, and thank you." *smiles at vincent*

Reeve: "Well if we're gonna go, let's go now. It's almost midnight."

Shell: "Rude! For the 10th time I want 3 and a half pieces of ice! This is three and a quater!" *pause* "Oh, damn! I'm sorry! I promise I'll only be nice from now on. I guess I can manage with less ice then I wanted." *frowns*

Rude: "No, Shell."

Shell: "Huh?"

Rude: "I don't like your resolution. I asked you out because you were...like this. Don't change."

Lark: "Oh hi, guys." *looks confused* "You left Sephiroth?"

Guys: "Actually..."

(just then sephiroth comes in and the room gets really quiet as everyone stares at him)

Sephiroth: *hangs his head* "Hello everyone. I...just wanted to apoligize for my actions and being so...w-weak, and I would like to ask for everyone's forgiveness."

(there is dead silence. then irvine steps forward, goes over to sephiroth and shakes his hand)

Irvine: "Welcome back, Sephiroth."

Sephiroth: *looks shocked* "Thanks, Irvine."

(everyone goes over to sephiroth and says something to him, while lark looks on with a small smile)

Lark: "Well look at that. And he said things could never be back to normal."

Reno: "Hey, everyone, it's almost midnight!"

Michelle: "Yee haw!"

Everyone: "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!! Happy 2001"

Reno: "Even though it already is." *drinks some champagne*

(everyone goes around kissing and hugging everyone, but lark avoids sephiroth, and he avoids her. soon the crowd disperses, except for lark, twitch, stryker, jackie, seifer, and sephiroth, who's not near them)

Lark: "Well I hope you guys had fun."

Seifer: "I didn't."

Lark: "I wasn't asking *you*, Seifer."

Stryker: "I had a good time." *smiles at jackie*

Jackie: *blushes* "Me too."

Twitch: "I had a great time."

Lark: *smiles at him* "Me too. Who knows, maybe you guys can come back again sometime."

Stryker: "Maybe that would be cool."

Seifer: "Come back?! Come on, Lark! You hate me, don't you?"

Lark: "I do not." *yawns*

Jackie: "Well, we'll let you get to sleep. You look exhausted."

Lark: "Yeah, I really haven't had much sleep lately."

Stryker: "Bye, Lark."

Twitch: "Bye..." *kisses her*

(and they don't want to let go, so finally jackie has to drag twitch away. lark waves and when they're gone, she turns around)

Lark: *jumps* "Oh! Sephiroth! I didn't know you were still here."

Sephiroth: "I think I owe you something."

Lark: "Oh? What's that?"

Sephiroth: "An apology." *sigh* "I know I was short with you, and I wanna apoligize for it."

Lark: *looks down* "Well, I... I was mean too. I shouldn't have been so short tempered."

Sephiroth: "It's all right."

Lark: "Look, don't worry about it. It's all water under the bridge now, right?"

Sephiroth: "Right." *looks down* "...So I heard you spent the whole night with some guy."

Lark: "His name is Twitch, and yeah, I did." *starts cleaning up and says casually* "Why, you jealous?"

Sephiroth: *seriously* "Maybe I am."

Lark: *turns to him* "Why?"

Sephiroth: "Never mind."

Lark: "Look, ...I just don't know. I don't know ...how I feel...about anyone right now. So..."

Sephiroth: "I understand. I'll leave you alone." *he leaves*

Lark: *sighs and leans against the wall* "I kinda wish you wouldn't..."
